Berend Te Slaa, a resident of the Holland Home at Sheldon, passed away at 3:45 P.M. Monday, July 15, 1940, death due to old age. He had been bed fast four days.

Mr. Te Slaa was born March 10, 1860, in The Netherlands and reached the age of 80 years, four months and 5 days. He lived in Aalten, Netherlands until 1911 and from 1911 until 1930he lived at Hull. For the past ten years he had been a resident of Sheldon.

He was married in The Netherlands to Berendina G. Somsen, who preceded him in death. Six children were born to this union, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Heyerman of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mrs. Hortsmanshof of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mrs. A. Meendering of Hill, Mrs. J. Plasier of Hull, Dick Te Slaa of Hull and Wilhelmina of Patterson, New Jersey. Survivors also include twenty-three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Thursday at 12:30 o’clock at the Sheldon Holland Home and at 2 o’clock at the Christian Reformed Church in Hull--Reverend J. Bajema of Sheldon officiating. Interment was made in Hope Cemetery. Pallbearera were six grandsons: Henry Te Slaa, Henry Plasier, Bernie Plasier, Bernie Meendering, John Meendering and Bert Horstmanshof.
