Arend Wiersma, another aged Sioux Center resident, and early settler in the county, died Wednesday at the age of 86 years. He had been ill for about a week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Art Oliver, where funeral services were held Saturday afternoon with church services later at Central Ref. Church in charge of Rev. L. A. Brunsting.

Mr. Wiersma came to the US from Holland 50 years ago and for many years engaged in truck farming near Perkins. His wife died 40 years ago. In recent years Mr. Wiersma has made his home successively with his three daughter, Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. Gt. Juffer of Sioux Center and Mrs. John Hoff of Doon who are his only children.

His Marriage record in the Netherlands lists Arent Wiersema born Uithuizen age 28, married Anna Neinoord born Kantens 25 years, he was the son of Eisse Freerks Wiersema and Jantje Arents Schoonoort. Anna was the dau of Kornelis Ennes Neinoord and Fenna Doornbos. They were married 10 Apr 1875 at Kantens Groningen Netherlands.
