Paul was born September 26, 1955 to Bob & Mary (Cronin) Mai in Le Mars. He was raised in rural Remsen. He attended Remsen Union and graduated in 1974.
He was united in marriage to Andrea Jonas and was blessed with 4 children. They later divorced.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Miranda in 2010.
He farmed all his life with his dad, milked cows, and raised chickens on the family farm.
In 1979 his dreams came true when he purchased his own farm outside of Alton; he continued his passion for farming up until his death. He also raised hogs until his farming accident in 1995. He drove truck to deliver papers for White Wolf Web until 2016.
He enjoyed going fast (out running cops) in whatever he drove, whether it be his Harley, the Lincoln, or his Torino in high school. He enjoyed traveling to Mexico with Patricia, visiting Okoboji to eat Bob dogs, attending the Clay County Fair to see all the tractors, and camping at the Iowa State Fair. His grandchildren brought him great joy, he loved when the family gathered at the farm together. He was very proud of his grandson Sean for joining the United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed sweets like apple pie, Snickers, and fried cinnamon rolls from Bob’s in Remsen.
He will be remembered for bringing laughter & joy to anyone he met, his willingness to help friends and neighbors in time of need. He will also be remembered for his many stories of his enthusiastic youth, and making his children play multiple hands of Euchre in the winter after school.
