Burial was held in the Hospers Cemetery in Hospers, Iowa with the Military Honors by Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion. Arrangements were by Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars.

Randall S. Stover was born on September 17, 1919 at Hospers, Iowa, the son of William and Martha (Puhrmann) Stover. He attended school in Hospers area and helped his father with the family ice plant and creamery business. Randall and Helen Freriks were united in marriage on June 7, 1941 at Granville, Iowa. The couple made their home in Hospers.

Randall was inducted into the United States Army on September 13, 1943 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served overseas in the European Theater with the 83rd Armored Group and saw action during the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged on January 22, 1946 at Camp Grant, Illinois. Helen and Randall moved to Le Mars in 1946 to purchase and operate the ice plant at 201 4th Avenue NE, near the fairgrounds. With the onset of refrigeration in the late 1950’s the ice business gave away to an ice and roller-skating rink, followed by an appliance business at the same location. Finally, in the mid sixties, they began Stover’s Furniture which they operated until their retirement in 1992.

Randall was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the former Giblem Lodge #322 (Now Floyd Lodge #537) of the Masonic Lodge, Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Helen of Le Mars; a son William and his wife Carol of Clifton, Virginia; three daughters Randa DeVos and her husband William of Cabot, Arkansas, Debra Sitzmann and her husband Arnold of Grayson, Georgia and Terri Stover-Cramer and her husband Terry of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren, Chad, Stephanie, and Justin DeVos, Ryan and Brett Anderson, Kyle and Erin Ellison, Darcirae Hooks, Mandi Hyson, Tyler Stover, Brooke McLouglin, Ashlee and Alexandra Sitzmann; 3 great-grandchildren Braedon DeVos, Daniel Hyson and Bretton Hooks; a sister La Vada Thomas of Sun Lakes, Arizona; and a brother Dale of Hospers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and two brothers Vincent and Melvin.
