From the Rock Valley Bee, October 13, 1933:

James McElroy was called to Sioux City Saturday by the sudden death of his brother, John McElroy, who died while doing some work on his car in a Sioux City garage. The deceased was fifty-six years old. He lived in Rock Valley for a time when he was a young man. He leaves his widow and two brothers, James of Rock Valley and Oney and one sister, Kate McElroy of Sioux City.

From the Alton Democrat, October 13, 1933, Rock Valley news:

James McElroy of this city received the following sad message Sunday morning: Following a heart attack John McElroy passed away at his home at 1505 Villa avenue, Sioux City.

John McElroy was a boilermaker for the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha railroad. He was born at Dixon, Illinois, Feb. 22, 1877, came to Rock Valley as a boy and lived here with the rest of the family until 1903 when he moved to Sioux City. He leaves to mourn his demise, Jos. and Oney of Sioux City, James of Rock Valley, Charles of Los Angeles, and two sisters, Mrs. M. Johnston and Mrs. Katie Jordan of Sioux City; a nephew, Eddie Johnston; and the widow, Mrs. Clara McElroy.

The body was at Westcott’s funeral home pending funeral arrangements.

His death certificate adds his parents, John McElroy and Bridget O’Reilley, both born in Ireland; resident of Sioux City 30 years; died instantly at 1515 Villa Ave. [his home], October 7, 1933; cause, chronic myocarditis, mural thrombosis; buried in Logan Park [Cemetery], Sioux City.

A marriage record on Ancestry.com shows groom John McElroy, age 47, residence Sioux City, occupation, railroad shops, born in Dixon, Ill., parents John McElroy and Bridget O’Riley, second marriage; bride Mrs. Clara Tanner, age 47, residence Sioux City, maiden name Clara Mullinax, parents George Mullinax and Rachel Williams, second marriage; married in Sioux City August 20, 1925.
