The Hawarden Independent carried an English account of her death April 17, 1924 issue

Mrs. Jacob Koster passed away April 5th at the home of her daughter in Sioux Center at the advanced age of 94 years. Mrs. Koster whose maiden name was Maasje De Mots, had but once before in her lifetime, and that last winter, required the attendance of a doctor, until just preceding her death.

She was born in the Netherlands but came to this country with her husband and six children in the early sixties. The first child who died in Sioux Center was her daughter Johanna, who died in a prairie fire at the age of seven years. Her husband died in 1890. The first house built in Sioux Center was built by Mr. and Mrs. Koster and is still occupied. She is survived by seven children. Eighteen grand children and twenty five great grandchildren.
