Mr. Lee Hofland, age 76, of Orange City, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, March 19, at 2:00pm, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Robert De Boer will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton. There will be a family prayer service on Tuesday, at 1:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation with the family will be on Monday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the funeral home.

Lee Milan was born on June 16, 1942, in Sanborn, the son of Johannes Cornelius and Cynthia (Mars) Hofland. He was raised in Alton and attended the Newkirk High School.

On June 15, 1962, he married Elaine Leora Kruid in Ireton. They made their home in Orange City, where they were members of the Trinity Reformed Church. Together they were custodians of the church for many years. Throughout his life, Lee also worked for Bloemendaal Hatchery, Smith & Wesson, International Harvester, the City of Orange City, and spent thirty years working in the maintenance department at Northwestern College in Orange City, before retiring in 2015.

Mr. Hofland enjoyed watching all sports, especially when his grandchildren were participating. He was particularly fond of the Northwestern College Red Raiders and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also liked gardening, bowling, and fishing. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife of more than 56 years; his four children, David Hofland, of Cedar Rapids; Laura, and her husband, Scott McKee, of Hawarden; Greg Hofland, and his wife, Sarah, of Fairfax; and Eric Hofland, of Orange City; seven grandchildren, Justin Hofland, Courtney McKee, Zachary McKee, Evan Hofland, Makayla Hofland, Anika Hofland, and Taya Hofland; and four siblings, James Hofland, and his wife, Anjean, of Modesto, California; Greeta, and her husband, Adrian Kruid, of Sioux Center; Linda Bouwman, of Pella; and Joel Hofland, and his special friend, Jean Driesen, of Hawarden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beth Hofland.
