Alton Democrat of April 26, 1923
Will Minten Called to His Eternal Rest
Died of Heart Trouble After Three Months illness – Funeral Thursday.
William Minten age 49 passed away at his home at Alton after a long illness on Tuesday April 17. The funeral was held from St. Mary’s Church Thursday, Very Rev. Brune officiating a host of friends paying tribute to this memory. Besides his wife he leaves six children, Theresa, Melinda, Eleonora, Bernice, Robert and Juilana, the oldest 13 years and the youngest 4 months of age, to mourn.

Will Minten was born at Menomonie Falls, WI on Jun 3, 1873, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Minten. The family moved to Jordan Minn in 1887 but remained there only a few months, coming then to Sioux county, Mr. Minten buying a farm two miles east of Alton. After their parent’s death Will and his brother John bought this farm which they farmed together for some years. He was married to Miss Clara Reith at Menomonie Falls on Feb 9, 1909.

In 1918 Mr. Minten became unable to continue farm work on account of heat trouble and removed to town the farm being sold at that time to Nic Hulst. Last January he became too ill to be up and finally entered the hospital at Le Mars where it was necessary in order to save his to amputate one of his legs. He did not improve, however gradually becoming weaker until the end on Tuesday.

Will was a brave man an uncomplaining and cheery man, whose loss is felt by many scores of friends. No one knew him.... rest of article is somewhat illegible.
