Rites Held Monday For Mrs. D. Schut Of Sioux Center

Final rites for Mrs. Dick Schut, 81, a resident of Sioux Center for nearly 65 years, who died at her home here Friday, were held at First Reformed Church at 2 p.m. Monday, September 15.

Services were conducted by the Reverend Harry Brower and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery. Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A brief service was held at the home at 16 10th Street Southeast preceding the service at the church.

Mrs. Schutt, nee Grada Nyman, was born August 2, 1877, in The Netherlands where she grew to young womanhood.

At the age of 16 she moved to America and was married here April 12; 1902, to Dick Schutt.

In 1918 the couple built a home here, in which she continued ta reside until her passing. Mr. Schutt passed away February 25, 1933.

Survivors include three sons, Neal of Sioux City, E. G. of Lansing, Michigan, and Gerrit P. of Sioux Center; five daughters, Marie (Mrs. Arie Boom) of Sioux Center, Margerite (Mrs. John Smith) of Alton, Johanna (Mrs. Henry Dykstra) of Canton, South Dakota, Harriet (Mrs. Dick Mulder) of Alton, and Henrietta (Mrs. Arnold Te Stroete ) of Hospers.

Twenty-two grandchildren and 35 great- grandchildren also survive, as do three sisters, Mrs. Sam Schutt af Clinton, Wisconsin, Mrs. Gerrit Gesink of Denver and Mrs. Jake E. Vermeer of Sioux Center.

She was preceded in death by two children, a daughter, Fannie, Mrs. Jake Den Herder of Maurice, who passed away July 21, 1955, and a son, Sam, who passed away March 24, 1948, as also a grandson, Richard Schutt, who passed away April 8, 1936.

Also preceding her in death were a brother, Henry Nyman, and four sisters, Hattie Nyman, Mrs. Henry Gesink, Mrs. William Kraayenbrink and Mrs. Dick Colenbrander.

Pallbearers were Marvin Schutt, Clarence De Boom, George Den Herder, Ames Smith, David Mulder and Paul Te Stroete.
