Born: July 27, 1885
Died: May 12, 1963

Herman Diedrich Schuett, son of Henry and Rebecca nee Winter Schuett, was born on July 27, 1885, near George, Iowa. He received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism from Pastor William Baetke on September 6, 1885, and thus was received into the Kingdom of Grace and made an heir of eternal life.

Having been carefully instructed in the principles of the Christian religion, he personally confessed his faith in the Triune God and was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith by Pastor Phillip Ackerman on March 26, 1899, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church northeast of Hull.

He was united in holy wedlock with Miss Alma Hagenah of Hull on February 2, 1916, by Pastor Paul Bunge. Their union was blessed with four children: Helmuth, Erhardt, Nettie and Betty.

The deceased was blessed with good health throughout the greater part of his life. However, he became suddenly ill on April 26th of this year and was taken to the Sheldon Community Hospital for medical care. On May 4th he was transferred to the Lutheran Hospital at Sioux City in order to receive the care of specialists. Medical science did all for him that it could, but it was the Lord’s will that he should not recover. The Lord took him to his eternal home on Sunday morning, May 12th, at about 9:00 A.M. at the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 15 days.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 15th, from the St. Paul Lutheran Church northeast of Hull, with interment at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery nearby. The Reverend A.H. Fritschel officiated.

Mr. Schuett’s entire life was spent in this community, where he was an honored and respected citizen, a friendly neighbor, and a good friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, and since he was three years old a member of the St. Paul congregation. He was always a loyal and faithful member, and concerned about the welfare of his Church. In his younger years he held various offices in the congregation.

He leaves to mourn his death, his invalid wife, Alma Schuett; his four children: Helmuth and family of Hull, Erhardt and family of Rock Rapids, Nettie (Mrs. Lawrence Woelber) and family of George, and Betty (Mrs. Walter Goeringer) and family of Hull; and his eleven grandchildren. Also one brother, Henry Schuett of Hull, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Sohl of Hull, and Mrs. Lizzie Schmidt of Bushnell, South Dakota. Many other relatives and a large host of friend.
