From the Alton Democrat, April 7, 1933:

Margaret Mary Holles passed away at her home four miles northeast of Granville on Sunday evening, March 26, at 6:25 at the age of 41 years, one month and 20 days, after a short illness of but a few days.

Margaret was born at Granville, Iowa, February 6, 1892, and lived on the same place almost all her life. She was the youngest of a family of six children. She received her early education in the public school, later attending St. Joseph’s Catholic school at Granville, and was a devout member of the Catholic church.

She leaves to mourn her loss her mother, Mrs. Theresa Holles; three brothers, Frank, Michael and Henry; one sister, Mary, all of Granville; six nephews and 3 nieces and a host of friends. Her father and one sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Granville, on Wednesday morning at 9:30. A Solemn Requiem Mass was read by Rev. J. A. Gerlemann, assisted by Rev. M. A. Schemel of Alson as deacon and Rev. A. Illg as sub-deacon. Interment took place at St. Joseph’s cemetery with Very Rev. Schemel officiating. Pallbearers were Joseph Goergen, Leonard Grady, Raymond Penning, Aloysius Grady, Leonard Roetzel and Benjamin Ahlers. Those attending the sad rites from a distance were Mrs. John Schneider of Sheldon, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Croat and son Melvin, and Lambert Gaul of Wilmont, Minn.

Her death certificate adds her occupation, housekeeper on farm; parents Michael Holles and Theresa Harts, both born in Germany; died in Baker Township, O’Brien County, at 7:00 p.m. on March 26, 1933; cause, lobar pneumonia, double, onset March 26, 1933; contributory causes, T.B.C. [tuberculosis?], date of onset unknown, and pleurisy, onset March 21, 1933?.

In the 1925 Iowa state census she (age 33) and her sister Mary T. (age 34) were living with their brother Henry H. (age 36) and their mother Theresa (age 68). Her parents are given as Michael Holles, born in Iowa, and Theresa Hartz, born in Germany.
