RITES FOR GRANVILLE PIONEER WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Mary A. Schlichte, early Granville resident, passed on at Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars on Sunday, April 8, after a few days illness at the age of 77 years.

Mrs. Schlichte was born at Petersburg, Iowa on January 25, 1868, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Naber. She lived in this community until after her marriage on May 26, 1891 to John Schlichte. The couple came to the Granville vicinity after their marriage. Mr. Schlichte died February 18, 1925 and one daughter, Clara preceded her mother in death.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Kate, Mrs. Ed Schnoes of Marcus; Anna, Mrs. Joe Vortherms of Rushmore, Minnesota; Edward of Alton and Joe of Granville. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one sister, Sister Mary Raphael of Dubuque.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Church, Granville at nine o’clock Wednesday morning, Reverend Knobbe officiating.

Mrs. Schlichte was a member of the Christian Mothers Society, was a devoted, home-loving mother and a kind neighbor by many friends.
