Funeral services for Lucas Rons, 81, will be held today (Thursday) November 10 at 1:00 P.M. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon and at 1:30 P.M. at the First Reformed Church. Reverend Henry G. Schoon will officiate and burial will be at the Sioux Center Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be six grandsons: Robert Rons of Tyler, Minnesota; Lloyd Rons of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, James Ron of Sanborn; Leroy Moret of Sheldon, Marvin Moret and Harvey Moret of Boyden. Songs will sung by Mrs. Ray Smit and Mrs. Larry Salmon.

Mr. Rons passed away Monday, November 7th, at his home at 12:00 noon. He was born August 20, 1879, in the Netherlands and reached the age of 81 years, 2 months and 18 days. Death was due to a heart attack.

When a young man he came to the United States with his parents and settled in the Sioux County vicinity.

On February 14, 1907 he was united in marriage to Gertrude De Weerd at Sioux Center. To this union three daughters and five sons were born. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and the following children: Peter Rons of Tyler, Minnesota, Ed Rons of Sanborn; (Mina) Mrs. Lloyd Goodyear of Starbuck, Minnesota; William Rons of Boyden, Louis Rons of Jasper, Minnesota; and (Alma) Mrs. Ed Donkersloot of Sanborn. He also leaves 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pieter and Jantje (Bakker) Rons, one son Albert Rons on July 25, 1931 and one daughter (Jeanett) Mrs. William J. Moret, July 28, 1956.

Mr. Rons was a member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden.
