John Robinet, 81, who made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Boever east of town the past 10 year, passed away in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Le Mars, Sunday, March 20.

Mr. Robinet had been a patient in the Boever home for more than two years but also had been a hospital patient. His death was due to complications arising from his advanced age. Prior to his final illness he was a familiar figure among his many friends in Remsen, all of whom deeply regretted his affliction and felt the loss of a warm friend.

Born December 22, 1867, at Loftland, Illinois, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Robinet and at an early age came to Iowa, settling near Hospers. He farmed there for many years, and there on November 22, 1892, married Anna Hentges, who died May 8, 1902.

On October 2, 1916, Mr. Robinet married Johanna Boelens, who passed away November 22, 1936.

The Robinets farmed four miles northeast of Hospers for many years and after retirement moved to Hospers and Mr. Robinet spent two years there, later moving to Sheldon. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, a member of the Remsen section of the Luxemburg Brotherhood, and throughout his life a staunch and faithful member of the Catholic Faith. Mr. Robinet was a man of fine character, a devoted husband and father, and a loyal friend who endeared himself to the communities in which he lived.

Survivors are his daughters, Mrs. P.L. Youngers (Susan), Mrs. Fred Verschoor (Antoinette), both of Hospers, Mrs. A.D. Hietzman (Clara), Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. John Boever (Mary), Remsen, a son, A.P. Robinet of Georgia; one adopted child, Emil Kellen of Lismore, Minnesota; two step-children, Mrs. Frank Robinet (Margaret), Sheldon, William Boelens of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; twenty-six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Anna Kack, died at the age of 29. The body was at the Fisch Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Mary’s Church with a Solemn Requiem High Mass with the Reverend G. R. Wingert celebrant; the Reverend Leo Harpenau of Sioux Rapids, deacon: the Reverend John Thoenissen of Hospers, sub deacon and the Reverend Lloyd Carroll of Sheldon, master of ceremonies. Burial was in St. Anthony Cemetery, Hospers.

Active pallbearers were members of the Sheldon Council, Knights of Columbus---N. L. Youngers, J. N. Youngers, Frank Hurd, M. P. Mullyn, James McCarty and Eugene Mulheon. Honorary pallbearers were local members of the Luxemburg Brotherhood---Frank Staab, Joe Staab, George Delperdang, Fred Arens, Frank Arens, Math. Diederich and Al Roder.
