Leroy James Roetman, 16-year old son of Alvin and Marie (Nieuwenhuis) Roetman, died in a car accident Tuesday evening, November 24, near Reading, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 27, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church at Reading. Reverend J. Reiners conducting the services, with burial in Orange City Cemetery. Attending the funeral from this vicinity were his grandfather Reverend Roetman, his aunts and uncles Mr. and Mrs. Austin Roetman, Mrs. and Mrs. Edwin Roetman, Mr. and Mrs. John Wiersma, also Mr. and Mrs. William Nieuwnehuis, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Boterhoek from Hospers, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Roetman and family from Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Gilchrist and son from Wichita, Kansas, and several cousins and other relatives and friends from Orange City, Melvin, Sioux Center, Algona, Newkirk, Hospers, and Sheldon.

Uncles and aunts unable to come were Mr. and Mrs. James Nieuwenhuis and Mr. G. Mokma from San Diego, California, Miss Cornelia Mokma from Phoenix, Arizona, and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Rymes of Long Beach, California.

Leroy was born August 2, 1943. He and his parents lived in the Newkirk and Hospers vicinity until February, 1958, when they moved to a farm west of Reading.

Leroy attended grade school in Hospers, and was attending the Worthington High School where he was a sophomore this year. He was a confessing member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church of Reading.

He is survived by his parents; his grandfather, Reverend Zwier Roetman; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
