Mona L. DeWit, 75, of Inwood, Iowa, died Thursday, November 8, 2018, at her home in Inwood. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 12, at 10:00 AM at First Reformed Church of Inwood with Rev. Rob Horstman officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Sunday, November 11, from 2:30-4:00 PM at the church. Memorials may be given to Justice for All.

Mona Lee DeWit was born June 11, 1943 in Sioux Center, Iowa to Richard and Florence (Wanningen) Gerritson.

Mona spent her time working as a certified nurse’s aide at various nursing homes in the area until she retired in 2003. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Inwood, IA. Mona enjoyed volunteering at Justice for All, attending TOPS, baking, traveling, camping, and spending time with family. Mona also loved collecting dolls, clocks, bottles, and blue delft.

On September 30, 1960 Mona was united in marriage to Edward DeWit at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, IA. The two moved to the family farm in 1969. To this union, they were blessed with three sons, Brian, Brent, and Brad. After Ed “retired” the two moved to town in 2011 where Mona died peacefully in her sleep on November 8, 2018, at the age of 75.

Having gratefully shared her life, Mona is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ed; three sons, Brian (Penny) DeWit of Larchwood, Iowa; Brent DeWit of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Brad DeWit of Larchwood, Iowa; four grandchildren, Lora (Heath) Bliek of Inwood, Iowa; Samantha (Joel) Koedam of Lester, Iowa; Kayla (Vince) Whaler of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Kyle DeWit of Larchwood, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, Mea, Vanessa, Kamara, Bennett, Max, and Jax; and sister, Denise Van Berkum of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Florence Gerritson; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Frances DeWit; brother, Larry Gerritson; brothers-in-law, Ed Driesen and Martin Halma; and sister-in-law, Joy DeWit.
