Marlow Scheffer age 72, of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28th, at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. R. Van Rathbun, officiating.

Prayer service for family and friends will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28th at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Inurnment will follow the prayer service in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. with family present at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Memorials may be directed to: Doornink Brunsting Post 199, American Legion in Sioux Center or Pheasants Forever.

Marlow Scheffer was born March 19, 1946, in LeMars, IA, the son of Cap and Clara Scheffer. He was raised in Sioux Center, graduating from Sioux Center High School in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1965. His enlistment was for four years. His basic training was in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After that he had advanced training in Army Security at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was assigned to South Korea for two years. After that he returned to the United States and was stationed at Warrenton, Virginia. From there he had temporary duty at Fort Devens, Massachusetts for six months, Petaluma, California for six weeks, and Panama for six weeks. He was honorably discharged from Warrenton, Virginia in January of 1969.

He returned to Sioux Center and worked for De Ryter Hardware for 17 years. During that time, he was united in marriage Susan Winebrinner on May 10, 1975, at Sioux Center, IA. He went to work for the AEA4, which became NWAEA for 30 years. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, hunting, woodworking and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife Sue of 43 years, his sisters, Connie (Lee) Anwyl and Kay Scheffer and nieces and nephews.

Marlow was preceded in death by his parents, Cap and Clara Scheffer, brother, Ken Scheffer and brother-in-law, Bob Anwyl.
