Note: A report on ancestry.com (by others) has parents as James Kennedy 1835-1925 and Catherine Anne Leonard 1847- 1912 buried in Hawarden. They had nine children.

John Kennedy has been very sick the past week with malarial fever.

Kennedy – Died at his home in Calliope, Sunday night, of Typhoid fever Johnny Kennedy aged 17 years. Johnny had been sick a little over a week with the fatal fever, and the blow, though not wholly unexpected fell with terrible force upon the bereaved family. Those of us who have lost loved ones, well know how to sympathize with them in their sorrow. The family circle is broken and no words of consolation can heal the wounded hearts of the mother and father, brothers and sisters. The Independent extends its heart felt sympathy in the time of their trouble.
