Mr. Peter Reith, long time resident of Granville, passed away at about four o'clock Sunday afternoon, March 17, at St. Joseph Hospital, Sioux City, at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 18 days.

Mr. Reith had been in poor health for nearly a year, but was not confined to bed until eight days previous to his death at which he entered the hospital.

Mr. Reith was an energetic worker which made him a successful farmer. He was actively engaged in farming the home place for 35 years, which excluded the first few years following his marriage, when he farmed the place now operated by Math Holles. He retired about a year ago.

Deceased was born September 29, 1877, at Remsen, Iowa, and was married to Mary Bernard at Granville on January 13, 1903. This union was blessed with seven children, as follows: Math, Martha (Mrs. John Gross), Helen (Mrs. Joe Schuster), Anna (Mrs. Arnold Kerns, Norbert, Clarence, and Raymond. Besides the widow and children, he leaves to mourn one brother, John of Remsen and one sister, Mrs. Greg Penning.

Mr. Reith was a devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where the funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 20, at 9 o'clock with Reverend J. A. Gerlemann officiating.Interment took place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Pallbearers were the following three sons and three sons-in-law of the deceased: Math, Norbert and Clarence Reith and Joe Schuster, John Gross and Arnold Kern.
