Mrs. Mary Reith of Granville died Wednesday, November 15, 1972, at the nursing home at Remsen. She was 90 years old.

The funeral was held Saturday morning, November 18, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville with the Reverend John Schissel officiating, with burial in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Melvin and Marvin Reith, Harold and Danny Reith, Orville Schuster and Jimmy Kern.

Mrs. Reith was born, Mary Bernard, September 23, 1882, in Wisconsin, to Mr. and Mrs. Nick Bernard. She came to Granville as a young girl and was married here to Peter Reith on January 13, 1903. They farmed south of Granville. Mr. Reith died in 1940. Mrs. Reith had lived at the nursing home since 1969. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of St, Joseph’s Parish.

Mrs. Mary Reith had one brother, Henry Bernard of Granville, who died December 3, 1957.

She is survived by four sons, Matt of Granville, Norbert, Clarence and Ray of Fulda, Minnesota; three daughters: Mrs. John Nichel (Helen) of Granville, Mrs. John Gross (Martha) of Colman, South Dakota and Mrs. Arnold Kern (Ann) of Watkins, Minnesota; 34 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
