Died: January 25, 1933

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Anna Reyelts, nee Lemmel, who died at the home of her son, William, northeast of Hull last Wednesday morning, January 25, was held last Friday afternoon at the home and from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township, conducted by Reverend Ed Goeringer. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near church.

Mrs. Reyelts was born o the 12th day of July, 1859, in Cadeberge, Hanover, Germany. The deceased was joined in marriage to Barthold Reyelts on the 25th of May, 1879. Nine children were born to them, four sons and five daughters. Four of the children were born in Germany and one died there in infancy.

On the 15th of June, 1887, the Revelts family took passage for America and landed at Baltimore on the 29th of June. On the 3rd of July they arrived at Boyden, Iowa. For several months they lived in the town of Hull, Iowa, then for a year they made their home in Boyden. On the 1st of March, 1889, they moved onto their own farm three miles east and four and one half north of Hull. On this place the deceased had lived continually for forty-four years.

On November 15th, 1915, her husband was called away from her. On the 25th of October, 1918, her son John died and about two and one half years later the mother accompanied his remains to the grave on St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. It must be mentioned in this connection that Mrs. Reyelts was a “Gold Star Mother.” On the 23rd of June, 1919, this mother had to mourn the demise of her daughter, Mrs. Sophia Heusch. On the 13th of September, 1930, the deceased, together with her daughter, Bertha, had to stand at the death bed of her son-in-law, Rudolf Henning. On all these occasions, Mrs. Reyelts showed her Christian spirit and it seems that each funeral showed her readiness to submit to the divine will. Her age was 93 years, 6 months and 13 days.

Mrs. Reyelts is mourned by her children: Bertha Henning of Boyden, Iowa; William Reyelts of Hull; Johanna Rehm of Hull; Herman Reyelts of Campbell, Minnesota; Maria Winter of Boyden and Wilhelmina Stegeman of Boyden; 23 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She leaves also two brothers and one sister in Germany.

The Index joins in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
