Kellen, Peter born 1861 died 12 Jun 1934 wife Elizabeth buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery Alton IA.

There doesn’t appear to be a digial paper on line for the two weeks near the death date of Peter in the Alton Democrat.

There is a family story in the St. Mary’s church book Alton IA.

Peter Kellen was born to Nickolas Kellen and Catherine Kuntzinger Nov 15, 1861 at Nordinger Luxemburg. In 1864 he came with his family to the United States settling at Caledonia MN. After several years the family moved to Sioux County, IA and Homesteaded south of Alton.

On July 2, 1889 Peter married Elizabeth Martin at New Holstien, Wisconsin and bringing his bride back to Iowa, they settled on a farm 4 a ½ mile east of Alton which is now owned by their grandchildren, Vic and Hellen Kellen. In 1920 they moved to a farm two miles east of Alton where they lived until 1928 when they retired and moved to Alton.

They were blessed with seven children: Mathilda married Nicholas Henrich, Otto married Irma Brown. Henry married Dorothy Kokenge, Johanna married Aloysius Stabb, Laura lived at home, George married Marth Schneider, Edwin married Genevieve Taylor.

Peter Kellen died at Alton on June 12, 1934 and Elizabeth died August 26, 1955
