MRS. JOHN RENS PASSED BEYOND

FUNERAL TAKES PLACE ON HER FIFTY-NINTH BIRTHDAY-HAD EIGHT CHILDREN

Mrs. John Rens passed away Thursday morning at one o'clock at her home in Sioux Center. Mrs. Rens would have been 59 years old the following Monday, when funeral services were held at the Second Christian Reformed Church in charge of Reverend Ypma.

Hattie Zoet was born in the Netherlands in 1869 and came with her parents to the United States in 1885, when she was nearly 16 years of age. The family settled near Alto, Wisconsin, but a few years later the young lady came to Sioux County. She was married 38 years ago to John Rens. The ceremony was performed in Sioux Center by Reverend Mouw. The couple for many years lived on the farm, where their eight children were born and brought up, and retired 12 years ago to a comfortable home in Sioux Center.

She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. K. Schoolmeester of Edgerton, Minnesota, and the following children: Tim Rens; Mrs. Jake Vander Griend (Ella), Mrs. Marinus Vander Griend (Jennie), all of Orange City; Gerrit Rens, Sioux Center: Bert and Richard Rens of Orange City, Misses Hermina and Jeannette, both at home.

Among those here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. K. Schoolmeester, son Henry and daughter Miss Alice, Mr. and Mrs. John Schoolmeester, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Broekhuis, Mrs. Vander Kolk and Mrs. Westra, all of Edgerton, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. L. Rens of Boyden, Mr. and Mrs. R. Rens of Hull and their children; Tim Rens, a nephew of Primghar.

Mrs. Rens was a devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friend. The services Monday were largely attended, bearing testimony to the high regard in which she was held by the community.
