From the Sioux County Index (Hull), January 26, 1961

Miss Mary Sleeth, 45, a teacher in the 4th grade at Northwest school, Spencer, Iowa, died during the night, January 18, 1961. Survivors include her mother and her brother in St. Paul, Minn. Funeral services are pending at the Warner funeral chapel.

Miss Sleeth’s death was discovered when a neighbor phoned a doctor after being informed by school officials that the teacher did not appear at school Thursday morning. She had suffered from an illness previously, but had not been sick recently.

Miss Sleeth lived in an apartment at the Wayne Zenor home, 426 West 5th Street. She came to Spencer from Charles City in 1952 and had taught at Jefferson, Lincoln and Northwest schools.—Spencer Daily Reporter.

Some Hull residents will remember her, as Miss Sleeth taught school in Hull Public Schools at one time and roomed at the Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahl home while here.
