Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 15, at the American Reformed Church in Orange City for Mrs. Gertrude Kleinhesselink, who passed way early Wednesday morning following a lingering illness with complications which ended with a stroke Monday which she failed to rally.

Mrs. Kleinhesselink was born on April 22, 1908, the daughter of the late Charles and Lena (Reuvers) Smit of Alton. Mrs. Kleinhesslink served on the Orange City Hospital staff as a registered nurse for approximately 10 years and from 1946 until 1961 she was the proprietor of the Convalescent Nursing Home at Orange City.

Surviving are three sons - George of Orange City, Walter of LeMars and Robert of Orange City, daughter, Lois, Mrs. Harold Draayer of Ireton and Betty (Mrs. Clarence Jasper) of Orange City, 11 grandchildren, four sisters - Mrs. F. R. Sawyer of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. John Kleinhesselink of Orange City, Mrs. J. A. Lawlor of San Diego, California and Mrs. J. R. Westfall of Waterloo, Iowa, three brothers - Dr. Walter Smit of Ames, Iowa, Chas R. Smit of of Wabasha, Minnesota, Frederick D. Smit of Riverside, California. Preceded in death by one sister, who died in 1945 and a brother in 1924.

Interment was made at the Nassau Cemetery at Alton, Iowa.
