Nieuwendorp, Neeltje Mrs. Christiaan, born 11 May 1836 died 13 Jun 1926 buried in West Lawn Cemetery Orange City IA.

In the early morning of Sunday, June 13, Mrs. C. Nieuwendorp raises from the temporary to the eternal . Neeltje Vander Meer was born in Netherland, 11 May 1836. As a 12 year old girl came see with her parents to America. The family settled in Pella IA. In 1855, she married Mr. Christiaan Nieuwendorp and the young couple lived the first six years in Pella. In 1861, they moved to Oregon where they lived for 5 years. In 1870, they came to Orange city and settled on a homestead west of the city.

From their marriage, 12 children were born whose two elders were deprived of them by death in the early childhood. Later, they were deeply saddened by the fact that they deprived a 4-number of married daughters and a married son by death.

The 5-(living?) are Mrs. John Crow and Mrs. Christina De Jong, Orange City; Henry New Village Montana, John of Newkirk; Fred of Lake City, IA. In 1902, the elderly parents departed the farm and moved to the city and lived in the house which they built in the east of the city. However, the father was allowed to enjoy the quiet city life only for a few years, as he died in 1904; The old mother stayed alone until about a few years ago when she moved to her children, Mr. and Mrs. John Crow.

The deceased, who had already passed her 90th milestone, raises in land and diligent life, not only for this temporary, but also for the expansion of the Kingdom of God. For several years she was no longer able to attend religion exercises which she visited, so much as she could.

In addition to her children she leaves 35 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren. Also, there is already one of the behind-grandchildren of marriage entered. The funeral service had N.M. place on Wednesday from the 1st Ger. Church led by Ds. H. Colenbrander in Dutch and Ds. J. Straks in English.
