Gertrude Punt, 82, of Sioux Center died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 22 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Reverend Arnold Punt officiated. Burial followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home, Sioux Center.

Gertrude W. (De Zeeuw) Punt was born to Pleum and Lillian (Van Putten) De Zeeuw on February 12, 1920 in Sioux Center. She graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1938 and attended one year of Northwestern College receiving her teaching certificate. She married Adrian Punt on June 27, 1941 in Sioux Center at her parent's home.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church and a long time member of the Lydia Circle. She taught two years of rural school in West Branch Township and was a leader for many years of the Welcome Peppy Pals 4-H Club. She was also active in T.O.P.S. where she was a weight recorder for many years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers, knitting, playing cards, crocheting, reading, traveling, and outings with her sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Adrian; three sons, Curtis and Judy Punt of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Leslie and Cathie Punt of Sioux Center and Paul and Sharon Punt of Chanhassen, Minnesota; a daughter, Joan and Robert Hostad of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Edith and her husband Herman Sietstra of Boyden, Doris Harmelink of Sioux Center, Francis and her husband Arthur Schuiteman of Sioux Center and Frieda and her husband Peter G. Mouw of Sioux Center; a brother-in-law, Andrew Brenneman of Sioux Center and special friends, John and Julia Vander Ploeg of Sioux Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joan Bremmeman; a brother-in-law, Herman Harmelink; and two infant grandchildren, Christian and Charity Loehr.
