A goodly number of old friends of the late John Henry Pryor were at the cemetery last Thursday afternoon to pay their last respects to the memory of the departed. His body was brought up from Le Mars, a number of the members of the Odd Fellows Lodge of this place going down to escort the remains here. They also had charge of the burial at the cemetery, the beautiful service of their order being used, after which a prayer was spoken by Reverend F. Kruwell and all that remained of the departed one was received by Mother Earth.

John H. Pryor was born June 22, 1858, at Scales Mound, Illinois and died in Romeo, Colorado, September 2, 1929, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 10 days. He was the son of Reverend and Mrs. Thomas H. and Elizabeth (Eustice) Pryor, both deceased. When a young man he came to Ireton where many years were spent in business, as manager of an elevator and in real estate. He was united in marriage with Miss Lena Parker August 7, 1895, in Ireton, who is left to mourn the loss of her husband. Mr. Pryor had not enjoyed robust health for years and an attack of flu left him too weak to withstand the ravages of pneumonia.

Mr. Pryor was a man of character and had many friends. His quiet ways and high ideals were always an uplifting force in the community in which he lived.

The sorrowing widow has the sympathy of all.
