Funeral services for Reverend Gradus A. Aalberts, 78, De Motte, Indiana, were held Thursday, February 12, in the chapel of the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home, Pella. Reverend Neal S. Busker, pastor of the Ebenezer Reformed Church, Leighton, Iowa, conducted the services. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Leighton.

Reverend Aalberts died late Sunday evening, February 8, in his home in De Motte, Indiana.

Gradus A. Aalberts, son of John and Minnie De Jong Aalberts, was born on October 23, 1902 in Orange City. He graduated from Northwestern Junior College at Orange City in 1932; from Hope College at Holland, Michigan in 1934 and from Western Theological Seminary at Holland in 1937.

Reverend Aalberts served Reformed Churches in Holland, Michigan; Ellsworth, Michigan; Leighton, Iowa; Hudsonville, Michigan, and De Motte, Indiana. He retired in 1972 after serving in South Holland, Illinois.

Gradus was married to the former Gertrude Beltman and to this union two daughters were born: Myrna and Margaret. Gertrude died January 29, 1966.

In 1968 he was married to Harriet Schoonveld Kamstra who survives him along with his daughters, Myrna, Mrs. Byrle Van Solkema of Byron Center, Michigan; Margaret, Mrs. William Orsburn of De Motte, Indiana; one step-son, Charles Hamstra of De Motte; two step-daughters: Marlene, Mrs. Henry Ganzeveld of De Motte and Beverly, Mrs. Henry Dahm, Jr. of Wheatfield, Indiana; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are one sister, Mina, Mrs. John Verdoorn of Orange City, and three brothers, Gerrit Aalberts of Orange City; Edwin Aalberts of Bemidji, Minnesota, and Alfred Aalberts of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Aalberts.
