From the Sioux County Index (Hull), July 11, 1930:

FORMER HULL CITIZEN BURIED HERE SUNDAY
Death Followed An Operation For Double Mastoid in a Hospital at Hastings

J. L. Craig, 821 West 18th Street, Sioux Falls, S.D., died in a hospital at Hastings, Neb., Tuesday morning at nine o’clock following an operation for double mastoid. With him at the time of his death were Mrs. Craig and daughters Jean and Marion. Another daughter, Mrs. Homer Ericson of Glendale, Calif., was home to attend her father’s funeral.

Following the operation Mr. Craig rallied and was thought to be on the road to recovery until complications set in last Sunday.

A sister, Mrs. Walter Phillips, lives at Worthington, Minn. Mr. Craig lived at Sioux Falls for over 20 years, representing a wholesale shoe house. He lived in Hull at one time and married Miss Estelle Stickney. Deceased was about 64 years old. His sister-in-law, Laurice Stickney Lynum and his mother-in-law, Mrs. C. N. Sawyer, passed away a few months ago.

The funeral was at Sioux Falls, Sunday, and the remains were brought to Hull, Sunday afternoon, for burial. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved family by old Hull friends.

An obituary for his wife Estella (posted separately), shows her as Mrs. Le Roy Craig, married June 16, 1904.

The Sioux County marriage register for 1904 shows groom James Leroy Craig, age 30, a resident of Leeds, occupation drummer [traveling salesman], born in Rochelle, Ill., parents James M. Craig and Mary Cochran; bride Estella Pearl Stickney, age 26, a resident of Rock Valley, born in Rock Valley, parents John Maurice Stickney and Kate L. Gardner; married in Rock Valley June 16, 1904.

He does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index.
