Mrs. Hannes Vanden Brake, nee Margaret Kraai, died last Friday evening at the age of fifty-five years. She suffered for a long time and died as a result of cancer. Mr. and Mrs. De Brake lived the last six years south of this town and formerly near Maurice. Deceased was born at Pella and came to Sioux county in her childhood. In the year 1879 she was united in marriage to Mr. Vanden Brake. Of the twelve children born of this union, ten are still living. They are George, Mrs. Den Ouden, Mrs. Jake De Vries, Mr. Van Horsen, west of town; William at Russell, Minn.; John at Exira, Ia.; Edward at Boyden; Fred, Jake and Naomi at the paternal home. Four brothers and one sister survive; James and John Kraai of Orange City, Peter Kraai of Andover, S.D., Edward Kraai of Crawford, Colo., and Mrs. C. Schalekamp of this town. The funeral services were held in the first Reformed church Monday afternoon.
