Vernon Pierson of Lake View was fatally burned March 29th when an explosion occurred. Mr. Pierson was using a torch to weld a faucet on a barrel which he thought was a lubricating oil barrel but which was a gasoline barrel. The gas fumes in the barrel ignited, causing an explosion from which his clothing caught fire. His wife, Mauda and Andrew Pierson tore his burning clothes from his body but he was burned severely all over his body.

Mr. Pierson was 30 years old and is survived by his wife, Mauda H. (Bradshaw) Pierson and two small children.

Note: His parents were Andrew and Mary (Gelander) Pierson.
