Mrs. Anthony Pierre, for thirty years a resident of this community, passed away at the Hawarden Hospital Wednesday noon. She had been in ill health for a long time and recently submitted to an operation in an effort to prolong her life but this proved unavailing.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 9 o’clock Saturday morning and at the Catholic Church in this city at 10 o’clock the same morning. Interment will be made in the Catholic Cemetery.

Katherine Weller was born at Fredonia, Wisconsin, June 5, 1862, and passed away in Hawarden March 14, 1923, at the age of 60 years, 9 months, and 9 days. She resided in Wisconsin until 1882 when she came to Floyd County, Iowa, where she was united in marriage at Charles City with Antone Pierre. They resided in Floyd County until 1893 when they moved to this vicinity and have since made their home on the farm, five miles east of Hawarden. Besides her husband she is survived by two children, John L. and Miss Olevia, both of whom reside at home.

The deepest sympathy of the community goes out to the grief stricken family in their hour of bereavement.
