Mrs. L. R. Muckey was Pioneer Iowan
Mrs. L. R. Muckey passed away at the home of her son in Alton during the night Saturday after an illness o f many weeks. Her twin sons, George of Tilden NE and Jasper C. Alton, her daughter Mrs. Ernest Bossard of Tilden were at their mother’s bedside at the time of her passing.

Elizabeth T. Cagley was born in Bremer county IA on December 7th 1854. Her birth place was four miles from the Little Brown church in the Vale, famous in song and story. At the age of twelve she moved with her parents to Page County IA where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Lorenzo R. Muckey on July 13 1878.

The couple engaged in farming in Iowa and NE and about two years ago came to Alton. She was the mother of six children; Mrs. Charles Bunker of Tilden NE, Loren W. of St. Edwards NE; Mrs. Ernest Bossard of Tilden; Mrs. Ethel Catron Topeks KS, Jasper C. Alton and George C. of Tilden NE She leaves to mourn her death her husband six children 21 grandchildren, 36 Great grandchildren.Two brothers, William and John of Clarinda and one sister, Mrs. Ned Lyons of San Antonio TX.

Mrs. Muckey was a loving and devoted wife and mother patient and uncomplaining in illness. Although not long a resident of Alton she endeared herself to many friends who knew her affectionately as Granma Muckey whose gentle and king character will long be remembered.
Her children many of her grandchildren and her two brothers have all been here to see Mrs. Muckey since she was taken seriously ill a few weeks ago. Che was conscious and knew those about her until a short time before her death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday after noon at two o’clock at the J. C. Muckey home in charge of Rev. Kaufroth of Oakdale NE, assisted by Rev. Jones of the local Presbyterian church. Interment was in Nassau township cemetery. (List of attendees followed)
