L. N. Muckey passed on Saturday, January 20, at the home of bis son, J. C. Muckey, in Alton. He had been in failing health since the death of his wife in August and finally succumbed to pneumonia, after a few weeks illness. He was 79 years and six months of age.

Lorenzo Robert Muckey was born at South Bend, Indiana, on July 31. 1854. At an early age he moved with his parents to Page County, Iowa, where he grew to young manhood. On July 13th, 1876, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth R. Cagely. To this union five children were born: Loren, Goldie, Ethel, and twin sons, George and Jasper.

He was one of the early pioneers of western Nebraska and Oklahoma, later moving to Montana and finally returning to Nebraska, where he farmed until three years ago. Since then he has made his home in Alton, where his kindly humor and friendly manner had won him many friends.

He leaves to honor his memory a stepdaughter, Mrs. Chas Bunker of Tilden NE; five children Loren W. of St. Edward NE; Mrs. Ernest Bossard of Tilden NE: Mrs. Ethel Catron of Topeka KS; George C. of Tilden NE and Jasper C. of Alton IA. seven sisters, one brother, 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of friends.

He had been a devout Christian since early manhood and a faithful member of the United Bretheren church until his demise. He was a loving husband and father, devoted to his family and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at-the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Muckey, with Rev. E. L. Jones officiating. Mrs. Charles Hoeven and Miss Evelyn Smit sang several hymns, with Miss Adair Engstrom as accompanist

Those here from out of town for the services -were Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Bossard, Miss Florence and Edwin Bossard, and Mrs. Wm. Kelley all of Tilden NE. All the children were here in the summer for a visit before the death of their mother, but a this time illness in their families prevented many of the relatives from attended.
