AT DOON FRIDAY FOR GERALD OOSTERVEEN

Funeral services were held Friday at Doon for Gerald R. Oosterveen, 9. The youngster, died Tuesday at the Rock Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The services were held at 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Christian Reformed Church in Doon with the Reverend Don Klompien of Zuni, New Mexico officiating. Special music was provided by 45 students of the Christian School who sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”

Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. Pallbearers were John Van Oordt, Harlan Van Engen, Berwyn Van Otterloo and Dale Vink.

Gerald R. Oosterveen was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, September 6, 1961, a son of Reverend and Mrs. Gerald Oosterveen. Reverend Oosterveen is pastor of the Christian Reformed Church of Doon.

Survivors are his parents; a brother, Harvey and sister, Jewel, both of home; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. W. Vande Belt in the Netherlands; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Voolink of Ireton; and a great-grandfather, Tunis Vollink of Garden Grove, California.
