Thursday May 20 at 4 oclock in the afternoon Gerrit Jan Hofmerer died. He was born 30 Aug 1843 in Laaren, Gelderland Nederland, he married in 1869 with Gerardina Riepman, in 1871 the came with children to Chicago. In 1872 he came to near by Alton. In 1909 he can to Orange City.

They had 8 children, five living, Mrs. John Reinders, Mrs. Johanna De Boer, Gerrit, Henry and John. There are two brothers, Harm of Newkirk and Jan Willem who lives here, a sister Mrs. Rijsen at Holten, Overijssel Ned. He belonged to the First Reformed church of Alton, then the C. G. (Chr. Ref?) Church (Orange Ctiy?) The funeral was Saturday led by Ds. N. J. Monsma.
