VIRGINIA P. ROHLFSEN
Virginia Pearl Rohlfsen the daughter of George and Beulah (Foxworthy) Gillespie was born March 15, 1919 in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She attended school in Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School. She attended the University of Northern Iowa for three years. She received her teachers certificate and went on to teach country school in Carroll County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clarence Rohlfsen on April 16, 1949 in Cherokee, Iowa. The couple settled on a farm northwest of Paullina where Virginia helped Clarence farm and she raised their three boys, John, Russell and Dan. While on the farm she enjoyed having a big garden, canning, cooking and baking. Her family was especially important to her. The last six years Virginia had been a resident of the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Heartland reaching the age of 99 years, 3 months and 9 days.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Archer, Iowa and had been a member of the Peace Links. She enjoyed playing cards and was very good at bridge. She was very athletic and enjoyed golfing and had played tennis. She and Clarence enjoyed traveling and went to several countries.
Virginia is survived by her husband of more than 69 years, Clarence Rohlfsen of rural Granville, Iowa; two sons, Russell Rohlfsen of rural Granville, Iowa and Dan and his wife, Phyllis Rohlfsen of rural Paullina, Iowa; also five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Rohlfsen; her parents, one brother and three step sisters.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall
not want. He maketh me to lie
down in green pastures; He leadeth
me beside still waters. He
restoreth my soul; He leadeth me
in the paths of righteousness for
His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort
me; Thou preparest a table before
me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life;
and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord forever.
