Milford, Iowa – Curtis Van Ness, 66, of Milford died on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls South Dakota.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, Iowa.

Curtis Van Ness was born on March 9,1952 in Hull, Iowa, son of Cecil and Doris (Bauer) Van Ness. Curtis married Donna Toenjes on November 1, 1969 in Ireton, Iowa. Curtis attended Pipestone Vocational school for meat cutting. After graduating from vocational school, they lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a short time before settling in Wilmont, Minnesota. While living in Wilmont, they operated a meat locker for 5 years. Curtis went back to vocational school for truck driving in Sheldon Iowa. After graduating from school, he was employed by Stylecraft. Curtis and Donna divorced in 1991. Curtis then moved to Iowa. He lived in Spencer and Sibley before settling in Milford where he retired.

Curtis enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing, traveling to different areas of the country during his truck driving career, and riding motorcycle.

Curtis is survived by children, Kim (Dave) Haddon, Orinda California, Mike (Nona) Van Ness, Forney Texas, Matt (Bobbi) Van Ness, Wilmont, Minnesota, and Brian (Jillian) Van Ness, Mapleton Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Perry (Marie) Van Ness, Menomonie, Wisconsin, Charles (Connie) Van Ness, Lawrence, Kansas, and Fred Van Ness, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and 1 sister, Sarah Payne, Spencer, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Jeffrey.
