Death of Long Time Resident
Mrs. Carl Johnson succumbs to pneumonia at Le Mars.
Death Occurred Last Friday Night. Was 64 years old and leaves a husband and four children.
Mrs. Carl Johnson, for more than forty years a resident of Logan township, four miles southeast of Hawarden, passed away at 11:30 last Friday night at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars from pneumonia following a brief illness. She was taken sick on Monday night of last week and was removed to the hospital on Tuesday.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at St. John’s Lutheran church in LeMars with the pastor, Rev. L. L. Belks, conducting the services. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery in Hawarden.

Frieda Louise Schultz was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, January 23, 1873, and died at LeMars Nov 5, 1937, at the age of 64 years, 9 months and 12 days. She came to America with her parents at the age of 12 years and they located on a farm in Grant Township Plymouth County, where she grew to young womanhood and was untied in marriage there with Carl Johnson in 1891. They remained in Grant township for about three years following their marriage, moving in 1894 to the farm in Logan township which they purchased. In the spring of 1936 she moved with her youngest daughter, Miss Emma, to Le Mars, although her husband has continued to spend most of his time assisting his son, George Johnson, who now operates the home farm.

Besides her husband she is survived by a son, George F. Johnson of Hawarden, and three daughters, Mrs. Herman Holtkamp of Hawarden, Mrs. Odin Jansen of Tacoma WA, and Miss Emma Johnson of LeMars, two sons, Email and Will Johnson, and a daughter Mrs. Henry Witt, preceded her in death. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Albert Winterfeld and Mrs. Henry Baack of Craig, and three brothers, Emil Schultz of Craig, William Schultz of Columbia SD and Paul Schultz of Lone Tree OK. There are twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. All of the members of her immediate family, except Paul Schultz, a brother, were here to attend the funeral.

Mrs. Johnson was baptized and confirmed as a girl and was a long- time member of Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden. She was well known to a large circle of friends and acquaintances who esteemed her highly. In the home she. was a devoted wife and mother and sincere sympathy of many friends goes out to the members of her family in their bereavement.
