CARL JOHANSON DIES IN PHOENIX Carl C. Johannson, 62, former area farmer and Hawarden resident, died April 10 Phoenix, Arizona, after a long illness. His funeral was held last Saturday in St. Matthew's Lutheran church in Chatsworth with Rev. Harris Hostager officiating. Interment was in Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home. Miss Marie Degen was organist, and Mrs. Ralph Gregg, jr., sang "Abide With Me" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." Casket bearers were Ed Drake, War rep Wasser, Henry Husted, C. T. Youngkin, Roy Dimmick, and Gordon Carpenter.

Johannson was born April 7, 1906, in Germany. He moved to Phoenix about eight years ago. In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by three sons, Leonard C. of Canton, Laverne R. of Sioux City, and Donald M. of Phoenix; a sister, Mrs. Carla Beck in Germany; a brother,, Robert, of Hawarden, and four grandchildren
