MRS. MARGARET MOOS--NATIVE OF BELGIUM

Mrs. Margaret Moos, for many years a resident of Granville, passed away at the home of her son Henry on January 14th at the age of 65 years. She was a patient for three weeks before her death at an Orange City Hospital.

Margaret Schaach was born May 8th, 1875, at Liege, Belgium and at the age of three years accompanied her parents to Harlange, Luxemburg. At the age of 12 years she came to America with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. George Schaach and family. In the fall of 1890 she was married to Peter Moos at St. Joseph’s Church, Granville and has since made her home in the Granville vicinity. Mr. Moos died in 1922.

Mrs. Moos is survived by seven children, 4 daughters and three sons: Mrs. Nick Smilas (Kate) of Waterloo, Mrs. Nick Maharras (Mary) of Davenport, Mrs. Nick Privas (Margaret) of Waterloo, Mrs. Felix Halversen (Susie) of Thompson, Iowa, Peter Moos of Paullina, Nick Moos of Waterloo and Henry Moos of Granville. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren. One son, Johnnie died at the age of five years. Her parents died when she was a small child.

For three years she was employed at the Le Mars mill. She was a home-loving wife and mother and a tireless worker for her family and friends. In late years she became keenly interested in quilt making. Her daughter Mary and granddaughter Mary Smilas, R.N. and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moos gave the patient ever care in her illness. Business places in Granville were closed during the funeral on Thursday, January 18th, at St. Joseph’s Church with Reverend Zeno Reising officiating.
