Bernard Minten, 80, of Alton died Friday in the Orange City Hospital of a brief illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Minten were held Tuesday, September 9, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Alton with Reverend David Hogan officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Mr. Minten was born January 18, 1900, to Mathias and Magdelena (Gehlen) Minten at Alton. He married Emma Konz January 15, 1923 at Granville.

He lived and farmed in the Granville and Alton areas all his life. He retired in 1967. Mrs. Minten died January 26, 1969. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Alton, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Le Mars.

Survivors include two sons, Donald of Alton and Myron of Fontana, California; three daughters, Mrs. James Christoffel of Granville, Mrs. Richard (Emily) Schroeder of Marcus and Mrs. Robert (Marilee) Elliott of Minneapolis; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Mouse and Mrs. Hilary Konz, both of Sioux City, and Mrs. Ted Versteeg of Loveland, Colorado; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
