A pioneer mother passed to her reward May 6, 1932, after a short illness of pneumonia, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 16 days.

Julia Finch was born in Homilton County, Indiana July 21, 1849. When a small child she moved with her parents by covered wagon to Spring Valley, Minnesota and resided there until 1876 when they moved to a farm north of Boyden with her father, two brothers and one sister.

She was married to John Miller, December 25, 1878. Her husband died October 10, 1887. Afterwards she and her family of small children moved to Boyden where she has made her home since.

She was a member of the W.C.T.U. and the Ladies Aid Society, also one of the oldest members of the U.P. Church.

She leaves tree sons and two daughters to mourn her loss: Ida, Mrs. George Dean of Nebraska, Arthur of Boyden, Gertrude, Mrs. F. Cole, of Kennebeck, South Dakota, John of Agar, South Dakota and Elmer of home. Twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One brother John Finch of Spirit Lake, one sister, Mrs. W. T. Price of Sheridan, Wyoming.

Others who attended the funeral of Mrs. Miller were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Story of Estherville and Mr. and Mrs. John Finch of Spirit Lake. Mrs. Story is a niece of Mrs. Miller and Mr. Finch, a brother of the deceased.
