Grace Steensma, age 97, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. John Vermeer officiating.

Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be Saturday, prior to the Funeral Service, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon.

All memorials will be given to Doon Christian School in Doon, Iowa.

Grace Steensma was born on October 2, 1920 in Doon, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leendert and Gertrude (Van Roekel) Van Tol. She lived her youth in Doon where she attended the Christian School.
She was united in marriage to Ike Steensma of Bigelow, Minnesota on January 1, 1942 at the Bigelow Christian Reformed Church. They lived and farmed near Bigelow and later moved to Luverne, Minnesota where they farmed. In 1980, they retired and moved to Sheldon, Iowa. Ike passed away in 1989.
Grace enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and flowers. She worked hard and was a woman of faith, which brought her through the trials of life.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Grace passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.
Those left to cherish her memories are one sister, Kate Groendyke of Sheldon, IA; one sister-in-law, Ann Postma of Sibley, IA; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ike Steensma; her parents; 3 sisters, Della Lems, Gertrude Van Bemmel, Helen Faber; 5 brothers, Henry Van Tol, Cornelius Van Tol I, Cornelius Van Tol II, Mynard Van Tol, William Van Tol.
