From the Rock Valley Bee, May 3, 1929:

MRS. MARY SCHULLER DIED LAST FRIDAY

Mrs. Mary Schuller, a resident of Rock Valley for many years, passed away at her home Friday morning [April 26]. Mrs. Schuller had been sick for several months, but she bore her suffering bravely and without complaint.

Mrs. Schuller was born at Hull, Iowa, January 5, 1881, and had attained the age of forty-eight years, three months and twenty-one days. Most of her life was spent in Rock Valley and vicinity. She was united in marriage with John Schuller in the year of 1902. To this union one daughter was born. The family resided at Maurice, Iowa, for a few years and then came to Rock Valley where Mrs. Schuller has since resided. Mr. Schuller preceded her in death nine years ago.

She leaves to mourn, her daughter Alice, two step-children, John Schuller and Mrs. Henry Kots, both of Maurice, one sister, Mrs. Lee Shutter, and three brothers, Hoddick and Will Henderson, of Rock Valley and Alfred Henderson, of Redfield, S.D.

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Lyman F. Focht, of the Methodist church of Rock Valley and the remains were taken to the Valley View Cemetery. The bereaved daughter and other relatives have the sympathy of a number of friends in their sorrow.

From the Alton Democrat, May 10, 1919, Rock Valley news:

Mrs. Mary Schuller, nee Henderson, passed away at her home in Rock Valley Friday noon after an illness of almost six months. Mrs. Schuller was born at Hull, Iowa, January 5, 1881 and died here April 26, 1929, having attained the age of 48 years, 3 months and 21 days. She moved here with her parents when only a girl. In 1902 she was united in marriage to Mr. John Schuller and to this union one daughter, Alice, was born. For several years they resided near Egan, S.D., where Mr. Schuller died nine years ago and after that Mrs. Schuller and daughter moved to Rock Valley where she continued to reside until her passing. She was affiliated with the American Reformed church, having joined the same at Maurice which she maintained until death. [Followed by survivors and funeral.]

From The Maurice Times, May 2, 1929:

MRS. JOHN SCHULLER DIED AT ROCK VALLEY FRIDAY

Relatives here have received word that Mrs. John Schuller of Rock Valley, a former resident of Maurice, passed away Friday. Deceased was 48 years of age and leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter, one step daughter, one step son, also one sister and two brothers. The step children are John Schuller and Mrs. Henry Kots of Maurice. Burial took place Sunday at Rock Valley. Among those from Maurice who attended were Mr. and Mrs. John Schuller and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kots, and Mrs. Dick Schuller. Mr. Schuller passed away at Flandreau, S. D., about nine years ago.

Her death certificate adds her parents, John Henderson and Alice Samson, both born in Norway, and the cause of death, “general carcinoma,” duration 6 months, contributory cause, carcinoma uterus, duration 1 year 6 months.
