From the Rock Valley Bee, April 26, 1929, Doon items:

Mrs. Frank Fiekema [i.e., Feikema] passed away early Friday morning, her death was caused by an attack of heart trouble. She leaves to mourn her death her husband and seven children.

From the Alton Democrat, April 26, 1929, Rock Valley news:

Mrs. Frank Fykesma nee Alice Van Engen passed away as a result of heart failure. She underwent an operation from which she recovered but her heart caused her serious trouble and she was in Rock Valley Wednesday. That night Dr. Huizenga was called to their home east of Doon and she recovered. She seemed to be as well as usual all day Thursday but on Friday morning the death angel called her. Burial took place at Orange City Monday. She leaves to mourn her passing a husband and six children who have the heartfelt sympathy of a host of friends in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Gerrit Stapert received word last Friday stating the death of her daughter, Mrs. F. Feikema of Doon. The deceased had very recently returned from the Rock Valley hospital where she had undergone an operation for appendicitis. She leaves a husband and seven young children.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Feikema, Alice (VanEngen), b. 3 Jan 1891, d. 19 Apr 1929, wife of F., West Lawn Cem Orange City IA.

The 1925 Iowa state census shows Alice and Frank with five children: Fredrick (13), Edward J. (11), Floyd (8), John G. (5), and Alben[?] C. (1). It gives her parents as Fredrick Van Engen and Jantje Elders.

FindaGrave.com has Alice Van Engen Feikema, born 3 Jan 1891 in Zwinderen, Coevorden Municipality, Drenthe, Netherlands; died 19 April 1929 in Doon; buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City; parents Frederik Van Engen (1861-1916) and Jennie Elders Van Engen Stapert Langstraat (1870-1953); siblings Henry F. Van Engen (1894-1974), Jennie Van Engen Wassenaar (1897-1951), Herman Van Engen (1899-1906), and Herman H. Van Engen (1908-1989); spouse Frank Feikema (1886-1976, married 1911). It also lists one of her children, Frederick Feikema Manfred (1912-1994). He became a noted Minnesota author, publishing first as Feike Feikema and after 1952 as Frederick Manfred.
