Mrs. Monson Dies

Monday morning Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Wierda were called to Hospers where Mrs. Ole Monson suffered a stroke. On Tuesday morning, Mr. Wierda met Mrs. Sadie Corcoran at LeMars, who came by train from Independence. Before her arrival home, her mother had passed away.

Mrs. Ole A. Monson, nee Katie Wierda, was born at Wynaldum, Friesland, the Netherlands on August 6, 1875. She came with her parents to the United States in April, 1889, settling at Hospers. On June 23, 1897, she was married to O. A. Monson of Hospers, Five children were born to this union. Adolph died in infancy. Surviving are Oscar C. Monson, of Independence, Oregon; Elmer P. Monson of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Sadie Monson Corcoran of Independence, Iowa; and Sgt. Clifford Monson with the armed forces in England. She leaves one brother, J. P. Wierda of Orange City, and six grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. in the home and at 1:30 in the Presbyterian Church at Hospers. Interment will be made at Hospers. Van Etten’s Funeral Service of Orange City is in charge.
