Patrick McManaman, a former resident of Hawarden, passed away last Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Bauman, at Centerville, South Dakota, from cancer. He had been ailing for some time and his death was not unexpected.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Church in this city at 10 o'clock Monday morning with Reverend Father C.P. Conway in charge. Burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery here.

Patrick McManaman was born at Scranton, Pennsylvania, March 2, 1866, and died March 30, 1933, being just past his 67th birthday. When a lad about 10 or 12 years of age he came west with his parents and they located in Jackson County, in the eastern part of Iowa. The family lived there for a few years and in 1872 they came to Plymouth county, locating on a farm several miles southeast of Hawarden.

The deceased was a blacksmith and moved around considerably following his trade at various places. In 1896 he was united in marriage with Sarah Murray and following their marriage they made their home in Hawarden and later they lived at Inwood. Since his wife's death he had made his home with his children most of the time.

He is survived by four children, two sons, John of Hawarden and Will of Hecla, South Dakota, and two daughters, Mrs. Will Bauman of Centerville, South Dakota, and Mrs. Dewey Greiner of Lakefield, Minnesota. He also leaves three brothers, Peter F. and James McManaman of Hawarden and John of Chicago and three sisters, Mrs. Mollie Noonan of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Kate Grenier of Sioux City and Mrs. Margaret Donovan of Minneapolis.
