Death claimed another Sioux County pioneers on Monday, March 16, when Mrs. Jennie McDonald passed away quietly in her sleep at the home of her daughter in Le Mars. Jennie McCleneghan was born April 3, 1855 at Laurich, Ontario, Canada and was 80 years, 11 months and 13 days at the time of her death. She was the daughter of John and Kate Mc Cleneghan. She came to Sioux County in 1874 and in October 1878 she was united in marriage with William J. McDonald. They took up the occupation of farming in the vicinity of Maurice, for several years, after which they lived in Maurice and in Struble. Mr. McDonald passed away in 1913. Six years ago she moved to Le Mars.

Bereaved include one daughter, Mrs. Kate Bertram of Le Mars; two sons, C.R. McDonald of Hawarden and Hugh E. McDonald of Pueblo, Colorado; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 daughters passed away in infancy.

Funeral services were held Thursday A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church in Struble, Reverend James B. Greteman officiating. Interment was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers included P. J. Moran, Edward and William Dealy, J.H. Mc Mahon, William Mc Donald and Fred Buckley.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Hugh E. McDonald from Pueblo, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. C.H. McDonald and Mr. and Mrs. Anderson from Hawarden; Mrs. Lettie Hughes from Tripp, South Dakota; Ed and William Dealy; Mrs. H.R. Dealy and Misses Eileen Lynott and Helen Moran from Sioux City.
